Backroads & Besties

There’s something really special about coming home.

This year I have the absolute honour of playing my hometown’s 20th anniversary celebration of the Women’s Association event, Backroads and Besties.

For twenty years, this evening has celebrated strong, inspiring women in our community; women who lead quietly, love fiercely, volunteer endlessly, and show up for others without ever asking for recognition. Each year, the community nominates “women to watch,” and to be included in this year’s event as the entertainment for my hometown honestly means more than I can properly put into words

Milverton shaped me. It’s where I learned what hard work looks like. It’s where neighbours show up without being asked. It’s where you can’t go to the grocery store without running into someone who’s known you since you were little, and who still believes in you.

This community taught me grit, humility, and heart. It taught me that you carry your people with you wherever you go. To be able to stand on that stage and give back, even in a small way, feels full circle.

Milverton, thank you for raising me.

I can’t wait to celebrate the incredible women who make this place what it is.
